Calling UFC welterweight kingpin Belal Muhammad the most disliked figure in MMA may not be an exaggeration. Critics often attack his fighting style, dismissing his claims as the best at 170lbs. However, earlier this year, ‘Remember The Name’ silenced many of his doubters by dethroning then-champion Leon Edwards and claiming the division gold. But it seems that wasn’t enough!

Just last week, Muhammad became the subject of ridicule again after the co-main event of UFC 310. Following the title elimination fight between Shavkat Rakhmonov and Ian Garry, Joe Rogan invited ‘Bully B’ to the Octagon to face off against Rakhmonov after his victory. However, as the reigning champion attempted to enter the cage, security stopped him—leading to an awkward moment. The podcaster then remarked humorously, “Security doesn’t know he’s the world champion,” which drew laughter from the T-Mobile Arena crowd.

UFC superstar and Muhammad’s current nemesis, Conor McGregor, didn’t waste the opportunity to mock him. On social media, the Irishman took a sharp verbal jab, commenting, “I’m not surprised, motherf–ker. He’s an as-h-le of a thing. Shut your mouth, you little dope—you barely got into the ring! ‘Who the f–k is that guy,’ the security said.”

Although Muhammad later clarified the incident in the media, many targeted Rogan, accusing him of mocking the current welterweight champion in front of the world. Recently, Chael Sonnen weighed in on the matter to defend the podcaster, explaining the situation from his perspective. Sonnen said, “Joe Rogan didn’t try to blast Muhammad at all. Joe made it funny; he was actually trying to put him over. It got twisted after Conor took his shot and laughed at him. I understood it—Joe’s remark was more like, ‘Hey, security, are you paying attention? Help him get in.’ It was Joe’s way of helping. Conor taking that shot? Fair game.”

Chael Sonnen’s explanation seems plausible, as Joe Rogan and Belal Muhammad have always shared a good relationship. Their banter has been evident on The Joe Rogan Experience, where the Palestinian-American has appeared twice—both times on JRE MMA Show (#164) and (#134), just two months apart.

The situation seems to stem from a misunderstanding, further amplified by Conor McGregor’s remarks, which left Muhammad and his fans disappointed. In a recent interview, the current champ shared his thoughts on the actions of the Octagon security during the incident. Let’s see what the welterweight champ had to say about this.

Belal Muhammad responds to Conor McGregor and Joe Rogan after UFC 310 incident

Back in the summer, Belal Muhammad defeated the Englishman Leon Edwards in his hometown to claim the title belt. Since then, the reigning champion has been on a break, preparing for his return to the Octagon. Initially, he was set to defend his 170lbs gold at UFC 310 last week against the undefeated Shavkat Rakhmonov. However, due to a severe foot infection, Muhammad pulled out of the fight and Ian Garry stepped in to fill his place.

After feeling humiliated by the UFC security team, Muhammad defended them, explaining that Merab Dvalishvili’s rabid altercation with a fan the same night influenced their actions. He spoke out about the incident during an interview with The Schmo. ‘Remember The Name’ explained, “Yeah, I don’t know, they thought I was gonna do something. They thought I was pulling a Merab (Dvalishvili), like hopping over and going crazy or something. He called me, bro! If someone calls me into the cage, I’m gonna go in there, right? I don’t think the security heard it; they didn’t realize what was going on. They thought I was going in to attack him.”

What’s your take on Chael Sonnen’s remark? Do you think Joe Rogan was not intentionally mocking Belal Muhammad and that it was simply his stand-up comedian side coming out in the octagon last weekend? Share your opinion below.
