“It Went From Zero to a Hundred Very Quickly”- While Narrating Conor McGregor’s Push Incident, Michael Chandler Left Amused Over Julianna Peña’s Parody Remake

Michael ‘Iron’ Chandler joined Julianna Peña and host Thomas Din on ESPN MMA’s After TUF Youtube show to talk about episode six of The Ultimate Fighter where he discussed his physical altercation with Conor ‘Notorious’ McGregor. ‘Iron Mike’ wasn’t shy at trading barbs with MMA’s resident king of trash talk.

The Lightweight contender got into a bit of a tiff with the ‘Notorious’, which later did the rounds once the public saw it. It was subject to varied reactions within the MMA community. Chandler however was most amused at Peña and Din’s parody of the event and talked about what happened between him and Conor.

Conor McGregor pushes Michael Chandler on the sets of The Ultimate Fighter 

The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) is a reality show produced by the UFC. Every season, two UFC fighters are made coaches and given a team of fighters who want to make it into the UFC. The two teams go head-to-head and the coaches face each other in the Octagon at the end of the season.

This season (season 31),  Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler are the coaches, and are scheduled to fight in December. So far, the score is 6-0 in Chandler’s favor with team McGregor yet to win a match. 

Chandler and McGregor got into a heated exchange immediately after Team Chandler fighter Kurt Holobaugh’s victory over Team McGregor’s Lee Hammond. McGregor got in Chandler’s face and made unflattering comments about the American immediately after the fight. This prompted Chandler to accuse McGregor of not supporting his fighters. 

“Maybe if you showed up for them, maybe they’d show up here,” Chandler told Conor.

This prompted ‘Notorious’ to taunt Chandler, calling him a “Bellator tick, you little tick” after which a visibly angry McGregor two-hand shoved Chandler back, which prompted Chandler to hoot and scream in excitement.

“We gonna fight right now? Let’s go baby” an agitated Chandler declared as the Irishman took off his jacket.

A worried Dana White rushed to the Octagon to prevent any further escalation. The American had this to say about the incident.

On the After TUF Show, Chandler revealed his reaction when things got heated between him and Conor.

He admitted that the push was unexpected.

“It went from zero to a hundred very quickly,” Chandler said “I didn’t expect it” but assured the hosts that he was “ready for anything and… ready to fight right there” after the push.

Peña then asked Chandler for an “expert opinion” on the “proper technique” and played a video parodying Chandler and McGregor’s brawl. Peña played the part of McGregor and Din played Chandler.

Chandler couldn’t help but laugh. But he was quick to point out that he didn’t go down like Din but only took two-three steps back.

There already seems to be bad blood between the two rivals who are scheduled for a bout in December. And the fans couldn’t be more excited.
