Anderson Silva is one of the greatest fighters in MMA history. He holds records for most middleweight title defenses, the longest win streak, and most knockdowns in UFC history. He is perhaps the greatest counter-attacker in the promotion and had a knack for highlight-reel victories.
But, it seems ‘The Spider’ is not content with being counted among the greatest martial artists of all time. The Brazilian has his eyes set on making another one of his childhood dreams come true- becoming an action movie star. He talked about his experiences and challenges as an actor on an episode of the ‘Trocação Franca’ podcast recently.

Anderson Silva finds fight scenes challenging
Silva had acted in Brazilian films even in his fighting days, before he landed his first US acting spot on the hit television series NCIS: Los Angeles in 2014. And the MMA maestro has committed himself fully to acting, having featured in two films in the last two years. However, he revealed that he was finding acting and, surprisingly, fight scenes challenging due to the technical requirements of cinema.

“It’s two different worlds, fighting and acting. For you to do a fight scene, people will be like, ‘But this guy fights, it’s easier for him,’ but it’s not. It’s actually harder because you have to do the right movement, the right angle, you can’t go over the camera, all these different technical details. But it’s super cool. It’s a challenge for someone that loves cinema and action movies like me” Silva said.

I’m a white belt: Silva on his acting
Silva further revealed that he was finding it difficult to juggle multiple roles at a time, as each role requires extensive preparation and study. He felt he was a novice at the craft but expressed delight at being able to be in action movies.
“I’m working on two projects at the same time now, and it’s crazy. Two completely different characters, so you have to study and act a lot, because you have to flip from one character to the other. It’s very cool. It was always my dream to be an actor in action movie. It’s not easy, man. I usually say I’m a white belt – I’m still walking.”
