The UFC is returning to Australia for the second time this year with their UFC 293 PPV. The event will be headlined by Israel Adesanya, who’ll defend his title against Sean Strickland. However, his fellow countryman and teammate Kai Kara-France pulled out of the event following an injury.

With UFC 292 wrapped up, Dana White‘s promotion is now looking forward to the UFC 293 pay-per-view in Sydney, Australia. However, one fight is now in jeopardy as Kiwi fighter, Kai Kara-France, recently announced his withdrawal. He was set to fight Manel Kape, but now, he cannot compete due to a medical predicament. Adesanya’s City Kickboxing teammate Kai Kara-France shared a post on his Instagram, where he shared the unfortunate news of his withdrawal from the fight against Manel Kape. Moreover, He was visibly upset with that announcement. He said, “Unfortunately, I’ve had to withdraw from my next fight in Sydney, Australia, in UFC 293.”

Furthermore, he mentioned that the reason behind pulling out of the fight was due to a concussion that he suffered during training. Kara-France even discussed the situation with his coaches and family members and believed that it was the right decision to make. “I suffered a concussion over the weekend at training and I’ve been speaking to my coaches, my team and my family and they all think it is the right decision to put my health first,” said the New Zealand fighter. He also shared an apology to the people who wanted to see him fight.

‘Dont Blink’ apologizes to fans for pulling out of his upcoming fight

The 30-year-old fighter was looking to get back to his winning ways after two consecutive losses to Brandon Moreno and Amir Albazi. But due to the injury situation, he shared an apology to those who were eager to see him fight and had already planned to travel to Australia to witness him live. Kara-France further stated, “Just wanted to say sorry to all the friends and family that bought the tickets, flight accommodation [and] all the fans who were excited to see me fight live.”

Additionally, ‘Dont Blink’ also mentioned that he had gone through a tough week recently. He welcomed his second child to the world, which was a happy occasion for him. However, the injury news left him upset, about which he can’t do much but pull out due to concerns over his health. “Yeah, I’m gutted to not be a part of this card. It’s been a tough week with my second son being born as well as me pulling out of this fight. [I’ve got] mixed emotions [and] frustrated,” Kara-France further added.

Injuries are not a novel thing in MMA. Fighters often get injured during the preparation for their fight. Kai Kara-France was supposed to fight on the main card. And now, we will have to wait and see how the UFC navigates this situation with just a few weeks left for the event. However, the UFC 293 card is stacked with some of the best fighters in the promotion. The fans are sure to get their money’s worth in Sydney.
