Amanda Nunes used to train among the top-tier MMA fighters in the American Top Team gym. However, after her shocking loss to Julianna Pena at UFC 269, the Brazilian announced she won’t be a part of ATT anymore. This news upset two-time Olympic gold medalist Kayla Harrison.

While in talks with Danny Segura of MMA Junkie, Harrison expressed her thoughts on ‘The Lioness’ Nunes leaving the gym.

She said, “You don’t really very often get two such high-level competitors, I think, pushing each other like that. Like I’m just really blessed that I had that for the time that I did.”

“So I think we are all bummed a little bit by it. Like I know, I am personally bummed just because it’s hard to find good big girls to go with, to begin with. But, I was going with the greatest, so that was huge for me. But you know it is what it is.”

Kayla Harrison open for a fight with Amanda Nunes

Kayla Harrison is 12-0 in her professional MMA career. Many believe she is one of the greatest female fighters of all time. However, the former UFC two-division champion Nunes is also in the picture. Hence, to end the debate of the greatest fighter, fans wanted a clash between both female combatants.

Both parties claimed that they would not fight each other. However, things have changed now.

In the same interview, Harrison said, If we fight, we fight. It’s still not gonna be like you know Colby and Masvidal like drama, you know. There’s no I don’t think there is anyways… But right now, just give me a contract and I’ll go.”

Harrison, who has entered free agency, is yet to sign with a promotion. Meanwhile, Nunes is busy coaching in the TUF season 30 and might opt for the rematch with Pena after that. With that in mind, this fight may not happen now. However, it can happen in the future.
