Dana White recently made a blockbuster announcement for UFC 295. The event, which will be held in New York, will have Jiří Procházka taking on Alex Pereira for the vacant light heavyweight title. Meanwhile, the Czech fighter has promised to make a change as he gears up for his return in November.

Jiří Procházka has been out for months after he suffered a shoulder injury. However, he is finally set to come back in November and fight Alex Pereira, who defeated veteran Jan Blachowicz in his light heavyweight debut. With Jamahal Hill out with an Achilles injury, the title will also be up for grabs. Let’s take a look at what the Czech fighter had to say about his upcoming fight.

After hearing the news of his next fight against Alex Pereira, Jiří Procházka stated that he did not expect this fight. However, he is happy to fight ‘Poatan’, given that it is a new challenge for him. He said, “I am glad to be able to face this Brazilian challenge again, even if in a different coat.”

Regardless of the unexpected challenge, Procházka has assured the fans that he is not taking Pereira lightly. He is focused on earning the victory and will be fully prepared to fight one of the toughest fighters on the roster. “But that doesn’t change the fact that I will prepare well for this challenge and go for the win,” said the former champion. Moreover, he also mentioned that he’s not worried about the belt or the title, but his focus lies elsewhere.

The former champion is not thinking about the belt

Jiří Procházka is unbeaten in the UFC. He’s fought only three fights but has been successful in finishing off his opponents. As such, Procházka is looking forward to putting on an impressive performance because that’s where his main objective lies. Moreover, he claims that it is not just about the light heavyweight championship, but more about his performance at UFC 295.

“It’s not just about the belt anymore,it’s about the performance and the path to victory,” said the first Czech UFC champion. Given that the fighters in the light heavyweight division are more injury-prone than most, Dana White believed that Alex Pereira and Jiří Procházka are the best choice to fight for the vacant belt.
