UFC legend and former two-weight champion Georges St-Pierre backs the Irish star Conor McGregor for his dream to become the first fighter to hold titles in three divisions in the promotion.

The pay-per-view star of the promotion, Conor McGregor, is currently going through a rough patch in his UFC career. He has only won one of his previous four fights and also suffered a gruesome injury.

However, he is fully recovered and despite all the adversities, McGregor is looking for a comeback soon. And he wants to fight directly for the welterweight title against the pound-for-pound king, Kamaru Usman.

Although many people might not believe in the Irishman to accomplish this dream, the MMA legend Georges St-Pierre doesn’t fall under this bracket. I think it’s possible. I think he can do it. It’s hard when your belly is full and you go eat at the buffet. I think you need to take himself out of his comfort zone and do a training camp and go back to his old route,” GSP said in an interview with SportBible

“He looks very big; he gained a lot of weight. It would be interesting. I think [Kamaru] Usman is the best right now. However, it doesn’t mean if you’re the best that you always get to win,” GSP added further.

“It’s not the best fighter that wins the fight, it’s the fighter that fights the best the night of the fight, so anything can happen,” GSP concluded.

But fans are curious to know why McGregor is targeting Masvidal in recent times via social media.

‘The Notorious’ is fully recovered from his injury and is now looking for a title fight with the champion Kamaru Usman. However, Leon Edwards is also in the picture. Hence, Usman and Edwards might fight first.

However. to enter the welterweight scenario, McGregor has his eyes set on another contender. The Irishman is recently going back and forth on the internet with UFC star, Jorge Masvidal.

Their Twitter war has excited fans, as many hope their beef might end in the UFC octagon. Both the fighters are on a losing streak and want to map their way to the 170 lbs title. Hence, this fight can be a stepping stone for them. Also, given their PPV selling history, it would be a great match-up for the UFC as well.
