JRE #1839 featured Joe Rogan alongside comedian Duncan Trussell. In one segment, Rogan spoke about the popular Russian pool player, Fedor Gorst. Rogan mentioned how Gorst was “trapped” in the US because he couldn’t get citizenship so that he could play pool. Rogan also mentioned how some people didn’t want a Russian playing in their event.

He added, “My point is, it’s not the Russians, it’s not the people. It’s only the people that are in positions of power. Doesn’t matter what the f*ck they are, from whatever country, fill in the blank. It’s the same thing.”

Rogan made an Instagram post in May 2020, declaring that he would be shifting the podcast to Spotify in an exclusive deal. According to Wall Street Journal, this deal was worth over $100 million. Rogan also stressed the fact that Spotify would have no creative control over the content of the podcast and that this shift to a new platform would not affect the quality of the show in any way.
