UFC color commentator, Joe Rogan, speaks on a variety of issues on his podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’. Ranging from MMA and other sports to politics and entertainment. Rogan doesn’t refrain from bringing up even the most controversial topics to discuss. Avid viewers of his podcast already know about the distaste that Rogan possesses for ‘weight cuts’ in MMA. He was joined by the noted sports documentarian, Will Harris, on one of the episodes of JRE. Rogan went ‘no holds barred’ yet again.

He broke down the reasons he didn’t like the weight cuts before a fight. Furthermore, he discussed how weight cutting was equally threatening to MMA as steroids.

Starting the discussion about weight cuts, Will Harris put up a piece from his knowledge and quoted, HBO did a piece on weight-cutting, that the UFC didn’t like, and now their relationship has severed.”

It was evident that the UFC didn’t like anyone criticizing or exposing their weight-cutting practices.

Rogan replied to Harris’ words stating, I would like to do a piece on weight cutting that the UFC wouldn’t like.” It probably came from the fact that Rogan loathed the ritual of weight cutting before fighting.

He continued, I don’t like weight cutting.” Taking things one step further, Rogan also said, “I think it’s the worst problem in the sport”. He also pertinently added, “I think it’s right up there with steroids.”

Rogan went on, I think steroids are barely a problem now, because USADA’s so vigilant.” UFC fighters have always been prone to steroidal problems. But, Rogan appreciated the role of USADA in keeping the sport free from steroids.

Talking about the strict checks of the USADA, he also mentioned, “They woke up Paulo Costa at fu***n’ 6 in the morning.”

Rogan calls weight cutting to be more horrible than USADA Norms

Despite the strict norms of the USADA, Rogan still perceives weight cutting as more haunting than anything in the sport. Comparing the two, Rogan iterated, All that USADA stuff is ridiculous but weight cutting is horrible.”

His words implemented loud and clear that the standup comedian was not at all into the practice of weight cuts.

Joe Rogan has been in the UFC for years. He knows a lot about the organization and its’ unrevealed facts. Weight Cutting is a serious issue that has plagued a lot of fighters, some of whom even ended up in the hospital. Incorrect weight cutting may be life-threatening to any fighter, and Rogan definitely realizes these aspects of the sport.
