‘It’s Worse for You’- Islam Makhachev Threatens Dan Hooker Ahead of their UFC 267 Fight

UFC lightweights Dan Hooker and Islam Makhachev are already jawing back and forth on social media ahead of their upcoming match-up. Both men are set to take the lightweight division by storm when they collide at UFC 267. The fight came out of nowhere as fans expected Hooker to take a long lay-off after his win over Nasrat Haqparast.

However, when the opportunity to face a mauler like Islam Makhachev came knocking, ‘The Hangman’ answered the door. In fact, Dan Hooker went so far as to propose having a five-round battle with Makhachev instead of a three-round contest. Makhachev brushed aside the notion that Hooker would be able to handle his pace over the course of five rounds.

Dan Hooker vs Islam Makhachev: One for the ages

Not many fighters are knocking down the door to face Makhachev as he’s established himself as a boogeyman in the division. Ever since AKA coach Javier Mendez has said he has the striking skills that surpass even Khabib Nurmagomedov, Makhachev has become an avoided fighter. However, Dan Hooker has never been one to back down and he’ll want to cement his legacy.

Despite the fact that Islam Makhachev is not a championship fighter yet, the aura around him suggests otherwise. The MMA community would be blown away to see him lose, especially since he’s been a dominant force right from the beginning. However, Dan Hooker believes he’s the man for the job and he just might be right.

The Hangman’ is gritty right from the get-go and he’s excellent at setting up flying knees on opponents looking to enter. Not to mention, he’s tenacious in the striking department and mixes up his shot selection with precision. Makhachev will have to be wary when looking to enforce his ground game against a savvy veteran like Hooker.

The aforementioned fight has all the makings of an instant classic and this is one that fans won’t want to miss out on. Not to mention, there seems to be a professional rivalry brewing between both men thus promising fans for a violent exchange.
