UFC 261 will have major significance as there will be fans in the arena for a UFC event for the first time since lockdown restrictions regarding coronavirus were imposed.
The pay-per-view will take place in Jacksonville, Florida this weekend. Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman will headline the card as the duo rematches with the welterweight title on the line.
UFC President Dana White has revealed some important news ahead of the event. White said spectators won’t be forced to wear masks.

Rather, it will be an individual’s choice to use masks. This might come as a surprise to many considering the restrictions worldwide. But White believes they have their work cut out perfectly.
“Jacksonville. This is everything to open it up again. Even Vegas is going to be open, you know, June 1, but 100% in July, we’re slowly mapping out this thing’s gonna be you know, there’s gonna be some things that are set in place. We’re still gonna have a bubble for the athletes and things like that,” said White.

“You’re wearing masks or not wearing masks. It’s up to you. It’s your decision,” he added in a revelation that might shock some followers.
“Well, what we did is all of our employees of the vaccinated we make sure that all of our employees that are here at a residence got vaccinated,” he further added to ensure that proper health protocols are maintained.
Is Dana White under-appreciated for his role in running the UFC during the pandemic?
The UFC paved the way for other sports to start during the global pandemic. UFC 249 was the first major sporting event since the lockdowns started.
Furthermore, Fight Island in Abu Dhabi was one of the game-changing deeds by the promotion in recent times. Overall, White and his team kept fans entertained when the world was locked in.

However, he has received criticisms too from time to time. That hasn’t stopped the UFC President from carrying on his venture and eventually showing the way to overcoming such adversity for other organizations and sports.

He deserves plaudits for that. UFC 261 will be another benchmark for the promotion as fans will enter the arena for the event.
