Rival Paulie Malignaggi doesn’t think the Conor McGregor NBA incident was real

One particular individual who knows all too well about McGregor’s antics is former boxer Paulie Malignaggi. Their tumultuous history began when Malignaggi was brought in to help McGregor prepare for his boxing bout against Floyd Mayweather. However, their relationship quickly soured after footage of their sparring sessions surfaced online.

In a recent interview with Lord Ping, Malignaggi questioned the authenticity of McGregor’s actions at the NBA match. Moreover, he suggested that the whole incident at the NBA game could have been staged for the sake of bolstering McGregor’s tough-guy image. Going further, the former boxer even claimed that everything in their camp is meticulously rehearsed and staged. He dubbed McGregor as nothing more than a “wrestling character.”

“I don’t know if he really sent him to the hospital. I could easily see McGregor and his team paying the guy to say he went to the hospital to make it look like he’s a badass. I’ve been around the team and everything is rehearsed. Everything is staged, except when he gets the shit beaten out of him. I’ve looked at the footage and I just can’t see that guy winding up in hospital, it’s clearly staged. McGregor is a wrestling character.”, said Malignaggi.

When Malignaggi predicted that Jake Paul would knock Conor McGregor out

In an earlier interview with Betway, Malignaggi talked about his opinions on a possible boxing fight between Jake Paul and Conor McGregor. He expressed his belief that Paul would knock McGregor out. Moreover, he cited McGregor’s vulnerability to looping shots and lack of discipline to weather them for an extended period.

Going forward, the former boxer even questioned McGregor’s heart. “I think Jake Paul would knock Conor out. Conor is too susceptible to those loopy shots, and Jake hits hard enough that only needs to hit you with one or two of them. I don’t think Conor has the discipline to stay with those little sharp shots for a certain amount of rounds. I think he would fall apart because he doesn’t have a lot of heart.”
