Jake Gyllenhaal & Conor McGregor’s Road House Remake Knocks Off Dwayne Johnson’s 2 Decade Old Record Off Its Perch, UFC Star Confirms

Conor McGregor recently claimed that his acting debut has broken the record for the highest payout for a first-timer in the industry! McGregor is part of the upcoming ‘Roadhouse’ remake, directed by Doug Liman, of ‘The Bourne Identity’ fame!

As such, McGregor took to social media to reveal to his followers that he may have toppled Dwayne Johnson’s record for the highest-paid debut in Hollywood history. He also stated that he was personally involved in doing a lot of the stunts for the movie, adding another level of excitement for the fans waiting for the release of the film!

According to reports available online, Dwayne Johnson was paid $5.5 million for his acting debut in the 2001 blockbuster, ‘The Mummy Returns’. However ‘The Notorious has revealed that he has broken that record! 

In a now deleted post made on X, McGregor had shared, “What did you think of my acting debut movie trailer? Hell of a ride! I am now officially the highest paid first time actor of all time, on record, pipping Dwayne Johnson for the top spot. Incredible! Was I worth it?”

McGregor, acknowledging the cult following of the original 80’s classic “Roadhouse,” shared the overwhelmingly positive response from fans the trailer has received. He emphasized the hard work invested in the film, proudly declaring, “We worked our a** off.”

He also revealed that he performed challenging stunts, including being thrown off a speeding boat and dragged through the sea underwater while holding onto the anchor! As such, the Irish superstar is thrilled about the film’s wild action and expressed eagerness for the upcoming world tour.

The film is set to release on March 21 and stars Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead role of Dalton, a former UFC fighter turned bouncer, reprising the role Patrick Swayze played in the original ‘Roadhouse’!  McGregor’s hands-on approach to challenging stunts and the film’s wild action have created a significant buzz, setting the stage for what could possibly be another avenue of success for the MMA star.

And while the fans await McGregor’s return to the Octagon, a fan-favorite UFC lightweight has already picked out an opponent and expressed his interest in being on the same card as ‘The Notorious’!

‘The Hangman’ wants to be part of McGregor’s UFC return

In the hopes of securing a fight on the card headlined by Conor McGregor, Dan Hooker is eyeing a matchup against a top-10-ranked UFC lightweight! McGregor’s claim of a middleweight bout against Michael Chandler on June 29 has yet to be confirmed by UFC CEO Dana White.

Therefore, Hooker expressed his interest in possibly sharing the card with McGregor and named Beneil Dariush as his preferred opponent! In an interview with ENGAGE, he shared, “Beneil, I’ll fight Beneil June, whether that be McGregor’s card International Fight Week, if he’s just pulling everyone’s chain as he usually does.”

Despite Dariush being ranked above him and coming off consecutive losses, Hooker stated that he is eager for the challenge! As the anticipation builds for McGregor’s next fight and the potential inclusion of Hooker vs. Dariush on the same card, UFC fans are awaiting official announcements to see how the lightweight division unfolds in the coming months!
