A look back at Chris Weidman vs Anderson Silva

Anderson Silva was one of the most dominant champions in the UFC. Since first winning the 185-pound belt in 2007, ‘The Spider’ remained champion until 2013 until his dominance was ended by none other than Chris Weidman. The first fight between Silva and Weidman took place at UFC 162.

As the fight started, Weidman went on the offensive. The American fighter scored a takedown on The Spider and started pounding on him. While Silva tried to work from the bottom, Weidman’s attack was relentless. However, The Spider managed to get back to his feet and looked unfazed by what had happened earlier. Silva began showboating and went on the offensive.

Silva’s showboating continued in Round 2 as well. It seemed as if Weidman was out of his element due to it as he wasn’t able to land a takedown this time. Weidman landed a shot on Silva and the champ pretended to be hurt.

In round 2, Silva began to turn up his offense. However, when the Brazilian fighter landed a leg kick, Weiman raised his leg to check the kick. The clash of bones resulted in an unfortunate incident.
