Conor McGregor, as a UFC fighter, had all the attention because of how he fights and because of how he captivated the audience with his mic skills. From there, many thought that ‘The Notorious’ could actually become a fine promoter one day. And those fan prophecies have come true as the former two-division champion continues to steal the spotlight as a part-owner of BKFC, which even had Joe Rogan admiring him recently.

At the Joe Rogan Experience #2396 with Andrew Schulz, the famous comedian started the conversation with a hilarious line, “Dude, Conor is like reaching final form as a promoter,” complimenting the Irishman’s highly animated promotional tactics. After Schulz made this comment, Rogan didn’t waste any time following him up and added, “He’s like chest bumping the guys who were fighting. Like, he’s not even fighting yet,” calling it his favorite moment. Well, now add Sean O’Malley to the mix, who claimed to watch Conor’s promotion clips on repeat.

Sean O’Malley shares praise for Conor McGregor’s promotional skills
‘Suga’ on The BrO’Malley Show w/ Sean O’Malley & Daniel O’Malley said, “Dude, Conor is such a f–ing character. We’re going to be looking back in 20 years when it’s all said and done and everyone’s a little bit older, and we’re gonna look back like, damn! We’re going to witness the Conor era! He’s a f—ing freak! Bro, I watch those on repeat sometimes. I’ll watch him promote Bare Knuckle, BKFC, and then rewatch it.”
The former UFC bantamweight champion is one of the well-known Conor fans, who’s very open about sharing that the Irishman has been one of the fighters he looked up to. So, ‘Suga’ sharing these reactions is actually understandable. But it didn’t stop there. Just like Rogan and Schulz, Sean and his brother Daniel also talked about one of the Irishman’s highlights in BKFC, with the former champ admitting that he’s still jealous of McGregor’s trash talk.

Continuing their conversation in The BrO’Malley Show podcast, Daniel O’Malley said, “I thought s—t was so stupid when he’s talking to—who, I don’t know the two guys.” Sean O’Malley then reminded his brother and answered, “Mike Perry and Jeremy Stephens. I was jealous. I wish I could talk like that.”

Here, the O’Malley brothers brought back how Conor McGregor actually threatened Mike Perry at the BKFC 82 presser, saying he’d fire him from BKFC if he didn’t perform against his opponent, Jeremy Stephens, in Newark. ‘The Platinum’ ended up winning the bout and stayed with the company. Now, as O’Malley is fanboying over McGregor, there once was a time when they were seriously beefing.

‘The Notorious’ and ‘Suga’ were once on each other’s nerves
Last year, Conor McGregor and Sean O’Malley had a verbal spat online. It happened around the time Ryan Garcia tested positive for Ostarine after defeating Devin Haney in a boxing match, which was later turned into a no-contest. Although McGregor built a good relationship with Garcia during that time, he still criticized him for testing positive, calling it “sad and a bit sick.” In a follow-up tweet, ‘The Notorious’ also ended up targeting Sean O’Malley, who had once tested positive for the same substance by USADA back in 2018.
McGregor wrote on X, “I don’t like this. I’ll bust yous both up, do yous want a spar? I will set flights right now for you both for a full-on spar each… Two little Ostarine heads.” Well, O’Malley has always idolized the Irishman, and hearing him bring up his past—despite being one of the most tested fighters in 2024—stung him a bit. That led to a brief back-and-forth.
In an episode of the TimboSugarShow, O’Malley said, “F— Conor, man. I’ve seen a lot of people being like, ‘Yeah, I bet Suga is sad. Suga is always talking great about Conor, and he’s his f—ing idol.’ He just went on a little tweet rant. F—ing booger sugar’d up, talking s—. ‘I’ll fly you out to spar.’ Yeah, right. I was more sad than mad.”
Well, after a brief period of animosity, Conor later complimented the former bantamweight champ on his preparation for the Merab Dvalishvili rematch, as he wrote on X, “Very reminiscent of my Diaz 2 prep. Intriguing! BIG FIGHT FEEL!” That also got a reaction from O’Malley, who later admitted at the UFC 316 media day that, despite the beef, he would still remain a huge McGregor fan. So, that’s two of the UFC’s biggest stars, finding mutual respect in the end.
That said, do you think Sean O’Malley and Conor McGregor could actually collaborate someday? Do you think that would happen in the future? Let us know in the comments section below.
