“Sounds like someone’s scary of big tom,” wrote Magomed Ankalaev as he tried to get on the nerves of the heavyweight champion. It appears that he might have succeeded in it, as Jon J͏ones to͏ok the ͏callou͏t͏ quite seri͏ou͏sly and re͏sponded ͏wi͏th a rather uptight messa͏ge to the ͏nu͏mber ͏one conten͏der͏ of the light-heavyweight divi͏sion. “Magomed jealousy won’t earn you legend status, my friend. Train harder, hate less. Want to truly insult me? Break some of my records first. Let’s get started, “ wrote Jon Jones on his X handle.

However, it͏ seems Ankalaev͏ i͏s in no͏ mood͏ to li͏ste͏n t͏o any o͏f͏ Jones’ remarks. Interestingly, Ankalae͏v ev͏en cha͏llenged Jon Jone͏s to a fight—or per͏haps it was͏ more o͏f an indirect ch͏allenge aimed hi͏s way͏. The light heavyweight took to his X handle to state that he is one of the best light-heavyweights in the world and he has what it takes to defeat Jon Jones.

“@ChaelSonnen you are right I am the best striker in the light heavy with division. If Jon Jones’s opponent got injured. I will fight him also and I will beat him,” wrote Magomed Ankalaev on his X handle. Back-to-back victories inside the Octagon for sure get on the mind of anyone and it appears that the Dagetsani is another victim to this mentality. Regardless,  Jon Jones is about to defend his belt against Stipe Miocic this month. So what’s after this? Let’s find out.

What are Jon Jones’s plans after UFC 309?

Stipe Miocic might be preparing for his swan song at UFC 309 but what about Jon Jones? Well, the heavyweight champion of the world appears to be a bit confused on this topic. Jon Jones has stated that he would retire from the sport but according to Dana White, ‘Bones’ would fight one or two times before concluding his career. So, let’s assume that he is not retiring, does that mean that he will fight Aspinall?

Well, the simple answer to this question is a straight no as Jones has officially stated that he has no interest in a fight against Aspinall, “I feel like Tom Aspinall, I don’t wanna say nobody, but he just hasn’t proven anything. He hasn’t done anything. And I mean, he won his belt against Sergei Pavlovich; Sergei just got slaughtered by someone else. So it’s just like, I’m not here to gamble on someone else making a name off me.”

So who might be the next opponent for him? This might shock you a bit but Jon Jones is looking at Alex Pereira as a potential challenge, “If there were a fight against a guy that’s still on our UFC roster that would be not only financially worth it but legacy worth it, it would be Alex Pereira,” said Jon Jones. His choice of opponent might be elite but the MMA community would like to see him defend his title against Aspinall rather than fight against Pereira. Regardless, who do you think would be a better fight for him? State your thoughts in the comments below.
