Joe Rogan berates weight cuts in the UFC

Rogan had a clear stance on weight cuts this time as well and asked the UFC and its fighters three simple questions regarding it after telling Green that weight cuts are indeed what bothers him the most about the fight game.

“That’s what’s crazy about fighting and I have said this so many times, I risk repeating myself, but I do that a lot, anyway. The big thing that bothers me the most is not tough fights, its weight cuts, that bothers me the most,” Joe Rogan told Bobby Green on JRE MMA #121.

“Cuz, i just think it’s a dumb thing. This is why it bothers me. Guys that know what they are doing, they are professional fighters. They know they are gonna have a fight like Khamzat and Gilbert just had. Both guys take crazy damage, everybody understands that. It’s part of the risk. But why is there extra risk? Why is there the extra risk like starvation and dehydration? What is that?”

“Like that doesn’t… that hinders performance, a 100%. Think of the amazing performances we have seen in the UFC and we have seen f***ing amazing performances. I have got to imagine that some of those people as elite as we saw them they are capable of something another level even higher if they weren’t dehydrated. If their body was operating on like peak efficiency. It’s not gonna be peak efficiency if you dehydrate yourself down to like- some of these guys are terrible.”

Joe Rogan details why UFC fighters are humble

In the same podcast, Joe Rogan and Bobby Green talked about why UFC fighters are the nicest guy in the room. Rogan reached this conclusion after he heard one of his friends tell him that all the fighters he has met until now are also some of the ‘nicest’ guys he has met.

To this, Rogan had an apt answer, as he believed fighters have nothing to prove. And they don’t need to tell people they are the “baddest motherf***er in the room” after all they have been through.
