His first loss was against Floyd Mayweather. While many have speculated the reason behind Alvarez’s loss, so has UFC commentator Joe Rogan.

Alvarez was reported to be on a vegan diet while preparing for his match against Bivol. It is no secret that Rogan prefers a meat-based diet. Hence, the famous Spotify podcaster took a dig at the boxer’s diet. Rogan shared a post on his Instagram story that criticized the diet the boxer chose.

Needless to say, Joe Rogan seems to be unhappy with the diet Canelo Alvarez adopted. Rogan has previously spoken about his dislike for the vegan trend. From his own experience of following a meat-based diet, the podcaster has seen more positive changes in himself. Hence, he is generally not happy with athletes following a plant-based diet.

Apart from Joe Rogan, many fans too were not happy with Alvarez’s vegan diet. When they came to know that he was on the diet during camp for the Bivol fight, many fans predicted that he would lose.

With the Mexican boxer’s recent shocking upset, it would be interesting to see him fight once again. After all, he had been quite a dominant opponent throughout his career.

Rogan has also criticized Microsoft founder Bill Gates for advocating a plant-based diet. He had said, “By the way, you look like s**t. Because if you’re eating those plant-based burgers or whatever the f**k you’re doing, you are obese. A guy like Bill Gates telling people when he’s got these breasts and this gut.”
