Spotify podcaster Joe Rogan recently appeared on Andrew Schulz’s ‘FLAGRANT’ podcast and talked about a subject that has been a point of discussion for long. They discussed the school shootings that have taken place.

Speaking about such incidents, Rogan said, “I think the problem is that it is a great way to get a lot of attention and to do the most horrific thing to a society that you feel like has abandoned you. … If you hate the world, one of the worst things you can do is kill kids.”
“So that’s the scariest thing for all of us. When you have children, you’ll have this feeling. It’s like the world becomes a completely different place. And which is one of the things like I was thinking, one of the things that happened to me when I became a parent and also just as I became older and I watched children grow and become bolder and wiser and figure things out. I realized we’re all just babies that grew up.”

“And I used to meet a person, and I used to think ‘oh, his guy’s an idiot’. But now, I look at someone, I literally like, I look at you and think of you as a baby. And I think of you going through your life and getting to who you are now. And it just instantaneously develops more empathy for people.”

“… it makes you realize that this whole thing that we do, like teams or othering people or this, not you, all that stuff is just fear.”
Joe Rogan on people being fearful
The UFC commentator is known to speak his mind about things that happen around him. While he has received criticism for the same, he doesn’t let that stop him from speaking his mind.
Hence, in the conversation with Schulz, Rogan further explained his perspective on how fear fuels cruelty. This creates tensions between people.

Comedian Akaash Singh, too, was a part of the conversation. From his experience of undergoing therapy, he said that people’s personalities were made up of their defense mechanisms.
Rogan and Schulz agreed with Singh. The UFC commentator additionally spoke about human evolution through difficult times.
