Rogan and Steve-O were talking about the conscious and unconscious levels of the human mind. Steve-O shared an analogy where he felt that all human beings are radio sets that get their signals from the universe. Rogan then explained that the term consciousness is very vague, as it’s not only humans who are conscious. He then went on to explain his theory with his own dog’s example.
Rogan said, “He is obviously conscious. He knows what I am saying. He knows I love him. It’s like he is conscious. I see him in the morning., we have this thing we do in the morning. I always go up to him and I go “good morning sir” [in a dog-petting voice].

Rogan then talked about how he meets his dog every morning and shared his dog’s reactions. Rogan said that the dog being a Golden Retriever likes being petted after he gets the toy in his mouth first.
He said, “My wife is funny. She doesn’t like when he whines, but I think it’s awesome and it’s hilarious because he whines because he is so happy. He always has to get a toy, and he is so funny. Wherever he gets a pet, he wants to go get a toy first because he is a retriever.
