Joe Rogan & Daniel Cormier at the Center of Fresh Amanda Nunes vs Julianna Peña Criticism

UFC 277 was an eventful night for a host of fighters. However, the same cannot be said for the commentary duo of Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier. The mainstay UFC PPV commentators found themselves on the receiving end of criticism from mixed martial arts fans. A section of viewers singled out Rogan and Cormier for their views on the main event fight between Julianna Pena and Amanda Nunes.

According to a section of fans, the fight between Julianna Pena and Amanda Nunes was being largely dominated by the Brazilian. However, fans criticized Rogan and Cormier for calling the fight as if Pena were close to winning.

A user mentioned that even though the fight was one-sided, the commentary would make one believe Pena was on the verge of winning. However, the fan also lauded Pena for showing her toughness.

Another user questioned Cormier on how he kept praising Pena even though she got dominated.

One fan slammed the commentary team for their comments. The fan mentioned that even though Nunes dominated Pena, the commentary team kept praising the latter. The user also labeled the commentary team as ‘clowns.’

A fan called out the bias of Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier. The fan mentioned while the duo glorified Pena; they snubbed the brilliant work of Amanda Nunes.

Another fan called out the commentary team for pretending Julianna Pena was doing well in the fight.

This is not the first time Rogan was called out for his work with the UFC. The veteran color commentator was previously criticized for interviewing a fighter after he got knocked out.

Joe Rogan was once criticized for interviewing Daniel Cormier

After being brutally knocked out at UFC 203, Alistair Overeem stood to do a post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. This interview between Rogan and Overeem was pretty awkward. Since then, the commentator decided to refrain from interviewing fighters lost by stoppages. However, Rogan broke that rule at UFC 214.

At UFC 214, Jon Jones defeated Daniel Cormier via TKO. Cormier, who seemed visibly disturbed, was interviewed by Rogan immediately after the fight. What followed next was Cormier bursting into tears over his performance while also seeming a bit clueless.

This action by Rogan met with a lot of criticism from the fans. Many believed that Rogan had no business interviewing Cormier in such a state. However, the UFC commentator later realized his mistake and apologized to Cormier for the same.

Why is Joe Rogan So Important to the UFC?

Since then, both Rogan and Cormier have shared a good relationship. The duo is seen commentating on events together. However, they are often met with criticism for their commentary.
