Joe Rogan doesn’t take jokes about his friends too lightly and it shows. Brendan Schaub is a recurrent guest on the Joe Rogan Experience and also a former UFC fighter. Schaub’s career may have been relatively short, but he still left an impressive mark in the MMA community. And Rogan wanted to prove just that in a recent episode.

The UFC color commentator was sitting with his guest and comedian friend Bobby Lee. Lee is well known for his ‘Bad Friends’ podcast and his dark sense of humor is always on display in the show. Here’s what happened when he tried taking a dig at Rogan’s friend.

Joe Rogan quickly claps back at Bobby Lee’s comment

Joe Rogan and Lee were watching an episode of the old Star Trek series on episode #2090 of the Joe Rogan Experience. The two watched enthusiastically as a terrible fight broke out between two characters on the show. Terrible, because it was badly choreographed, especially for Rogan, who has spent his life watching and practicing martial arts.

Just as Rogan complained about how bad the moves were, Lee took his chance to throw shade at Schaub’s MMA career. “He fights like Brendan Schaub a little bit,” Bobby Lee said, and Rogan’s excited tone quickly changed to a defensive one.

“Brendan Schaub is a good fighter you should know,” Rogan retorted. “He knocked out Mirko ‘Cro Cop'” to which Lee instantly withdrew his statement. He claimed that he was just joking around with the podcaster. Clearly, the two have a fun little bond.

Jokes aside, Schaub really did knock out one of the most amazing fighters of his time. Mirko Filipovic fought Schaub at UFC 128 and was knocked out in the last few minutes of the third round. Now, the former fighter is retired and often seen on Rogan’s podcast. But is there a reason that fans don’t like him?

Schaub’s presence on the JRE podcast under scrutiny

In a recent edition of Rogan’s Fight Companion episode, Schaub was a guest alongside Joey Diaz and Eddie Bravo. However, fans couldn’t handle the idea of Schaub being present. Rogan’s Instagram post announcing the lineup for the show was lined up with comments from people asking him to not bring Schaub on at all.

Meanwhile, Lee doubting Schaub’s career isn’t the only instance of doubt cast on his MMA outing. Previously, Rogan himself has asked Schaub to look carefully at his MMA career because he felt like he had “one foot out the door” and as a friend, Rogan had to hand that reality check to him. What do you think about the recurring guest and the recent digs taken at him? Let us know in the comments.
