Despite Dave Chapelle being one of the most beloved comedians on the planet, he is no stranger to the controversy that follows him. It is not uncommon either for comedians to fall victim to the cancel culture. Chapelle is no exception to that. Nevertheless, he has managed to find a way to slip through it, despite some of his stand-up specials covering some edgy topics. Fellow Comedian and Podcast host, Joe Rogan, in a recent JRE episode with Taylor Sheridan, reveals how the seasoned comic sets up for his standup specials.

Joe Rogan explains how Dave Chapelle prepares for his standup specials

The Color Commentator goes on to reveal how the enigmatic comedian pulls up to shows, saying, “He literally will fly into a city. He doesn’t even book shows. He flies into cities and just shows up at clubs and goes on after the show’s over. Yeah, or pops in the middle of a show.” Rogan even recalls a moment when Dave Chapelle pulled up to one of his shows unannounced.

Joe Rogan told Taylor Sheridan about the time when Chapelle pulled up to one of Rogan’s shows unannounced. Rogan, ecstatic to see Chapelle after the show, asked the comic if he wanted to go up on stage. When Chapelle asked Rogan if he should, he was met with an enthusiastic “f**k yeah” from Rogan.

Rogan claimed that despite people leaving the show after it was over, they came back upon hearing that Chapelle was about to perform. He then talked about how Chapelle performed for the audience, saying, “So he just goes around and just f**ks around and then slowly hammers these bits out until he gets him to this like bulletproof form. And then he puts them out on a special.”

Dave Chapelle is by far one of the most talented comedians and storytellers on the planet. And Rogan, just like anyone else except critics, loves to be around him, and vice versa. However, there is one comedian who doesn’t seem to stand on the same page as Joe Rogan.

However, Rogan was quick to clear any misunderstandings between the two by inviting him to a JRE podcast, by tweeting, “I love Katt. He’s one of my favorite comics and I’d love to have him on. We talk about him all the time. If he’s down l’ll make it happen.”
