The fight between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski can be termed a modern-day David Vs. Goliath match. It was one of the few moments where the fans witnessed Makhachev being dominated. Volkanovski despite his small stature and less reach was able to give a tough time to Makhachev which the 155 lbs division couldn’t. However, despite his attempts to reach the zenith, it was Makhachev who emerged victorious.
In spite of the conclusive verdict in the match, its relevance endures in the present, sparking extensive discourse on the outcome. Recently, the erstwhile UFC commentator, Joe Rogan made a statement about the match that didn’t sit well with the combat sports enthusiasts.
