Joe Rogan is one constant in the UFC’s commentary team. However, he’s never short of praise for his partners on the desk. As such, a recently resurfaced video of Rogan from an episode of his JRE podcast shows him talking about Jon Anik and sharing some positive words about the play-by-play commentator.

UFC 294 is around the corner, but Joe Rogan won’t be there to call the fights. Instead, he’s been replaced by Paul Felder, who’ll work alongside Jon Anik and Daniel Cormier. However, what really has caught the attention of social media users is Rogan’s opinion about Anik. Let’s see what he had to say.

The 56-year-old commentator-cum-podcast host spoke highly of Jon Anik’s commentating skills. Joe Rogan claimed that there is no one better in MMA when it comes to play-by-play commentating than his longtime partner, Anik. He said, “Jon Anik is the man. That guy’s the best play-by-play commentator in the history of the sport.”

Joe Rogan spoke about how good Jon Anik is at his job. He took the example of the time when the 45-year-old commentated on Leon Edwards vs Kamaru Usman‘s fight at UFC 278. Anik dropped a line about ‘Rocky’, which later saw the English fighter win the fight with a sensational head kick.

“He’s so smooth, man. When he called that Leon Edwards head kick right before Leon landed it on Kamaru Usman because they were saying he’s down in this fight and his corner’s yelling at him, ‘Don’t give up Rock. Go get him.’ Jon Anik goes, ‘But that is not the cloth from which he’s cut,'” said Joe Rogan.

The 56-year-old claimed that head kick finish was one of the craziest things that ever happened in the UFC. “And then boom! He lands a headshot. I mean, it’s crazy,” Rogan added. He also talked about how significant that moment was for the sport of MMA.

The 56-year-old claims Anik’s UFC 278 commentary is a historical moment for the promotion

Joe Rogan imagined how Jon Anik’s dropping the line about Leon Edwards at UFC 278 would have looked like in a movie. Most people would have been left in disbelief due to the level of accuracy of what followed later. Rogan said, “If that was in a movie, you’d go like, ‘That’s too dead on. No one would make a call like that.'”

Although Joe Rogan won’t be there in Abu Dhabi, the commentary team will still have Jon Anik. He has been one of the constants that the MMA fans are well acquainted with.
