Joe Rogan has been around the UFC for almost two decades now. He is one of the most loved commentators in MMA and is also very knowledgeable about the sport. Apart from being a terrific commentator, Rogan is famous for his podcast show, The Joe Rogan Experience.
In a recent episode of his podcast show, Rogan praised his fellow UFC commentator and former fighter, Michael Bisping. Rogan told his guest about Bisping’s inspirational story of how he became the UFC middleweight champion while being blind in one eye. He also spoke about his condition and how his eye got worse with time.
Rogan said, “He was the UFC middleweight champion. He fought his last 10 fights with one eye. He lied about being able to see out of his eye.”

Rogan continued, “He would memorize charts and he would just get doctors to pass things. He always fought with his left hand forward. His right eye, the one that went blind……. He had a really good left hook which is how he won the title…That guy fought 10 fights blind.”
“He got kicked in the head and got a detached retina and then had surgery on that and then some subsequent injuries and eventually it kept getting worse and worse. It got to a point where now he can only tell if the light is on or off.”

Bisping is now a part of the UFC’s prestigious hall of fame and is one of the most respected members of the promotion.
Michael Bisping explains his eye injury to Joe Rogan
Michael Bisping’s eye injury is one of the most unfortunate injuries that have taken place in the UFC. The fact that he won the belt while having almost no vision in one eye, shows us how great of a fighter he was.
The Liverpool fighter appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast show and spoke about his eye injury and what really happened.

Bisping explained that his vision started deteriorating after his fight against Vitor Belfort. After a few days passed, Bisping noticed his limited vision in his eye and was diagnosed with a detached retina by his doctor.

Bisping said, “I called the doctor and (he) said, ‘yeah you’ve got a detached retina.’ They fixed that, it got re detached. I got glaucoma. It was just bad luck. One thing after the other, anything that could go wrong with an eye went wrong.”
