Sean O’Malley is one of the most exciting prospects on the UFC roster right now. The bantamweight fighter has gotten the better out of almost every fighter he’s faced in the octagon.

As of 28th February 2022, O’Malley stands 12th in the UFC bantamweight rankings. ‘Sugar’ has come a long way since he appeared at the Dana White’s Contender Series 2 in 2017. Joe Rogan is one of the many people to recognize his progress and talent.

In an episode of his podcast show, Rogan praised the progress of Sean O’Malley.

He said,” here’s a young kid that’s learning the sport, while we’re watching him on the UFC. That’s what’s crazy about him. I mean you go back to Dana White’s Contender show, and he was looser, wilder, you know, fun to watch, but not nearly as sharp.”

He added, “like now, he’s on a completely different level. Knocking out Wineland like that faking the uppercut and then just following over the top of the straight right hand and catching him slipping, I mean that was fantastic.”

Sean has had some incredible fights ever since his win against Wineland as well. He is a pure entertainer and has become a fan favorite in no time. Not only is he an entertainer inside the octagon, but he also is extremely interactive on the outside of it as well.

What’s next for Sean O’Malley?

After his recent win over Raulian Paiva at UFC 269, it is very likely that O’Malley will fight someone on the higher ranks in the Bantamweight division.

Marlon Vera could be on the cards for Sean O’Malley. Vera stands eighth in the bantamweight division and is the only fighter who has beaten O’Malley before. A bout between ‘Chito‘ and ‘Sugar‘ would be an absolute blockbuster and would attract a lot of attention, which is what the UFC will want.
