‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ Kamaru Usman is all set for an exciting showdown with Khamzat Chimaev at the upcoming UFC 294 event. Usman has once again come to the UFC’s rescue by accepting this fight with only 11 days’ notice. It’s not the first time Usman has taken on such short-notice challenges, showcasing his commitment to the sport.

Usman is widely considered the top welterweight fighter on the current UFC roster. A victory against Chimaev could very well put him in contention for a title shot against Sean Strickland. However, as in all things in the world of mixed martial arts, nothing is ever as straightforward as it appears.

Kamaru Usman’s knee problem baffles Joe Rogan and Sean O’Malley

Kamaru Usman’s dream of becoming a champion again can come true if he defeats Khamzat Chimaev, however, it can be dashed due to his bad knees. It is not new that Usman faces a very bad condition of knee pain that sometimes cripples him. Despite these conditions ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ has never backed away from challenges.

Recently Joe Rogan and Sean O’Malley indulged in a conversation in Rogan’s podcast “JRE Experience”. While having in conversation, O’Malley discussed Usman’s bad knee. He added “And then Kamaru. You know, one thing I think Kamaru messed up was talking about how bad his knees are. I remember he mentioned that on the podcast because I never knew, but then he brought it up when he was doing the podcast with you”

He further added ” he has to walk backward downstairs, he has to walk in the grass sometimes, just talking about it. I think if you’re a fighter and you’ve got some real injuries, keep that stuff under wraps because if you’re fighting someone and I know they’re messed up somewhere, it gives you a little edge.”. O’Malley emphasized that Usman’s knee injury might be a hindrance for him and he should be wary about it.

Joe Rogan was quick to respond and stated that a weak point definitely gives your opponent a target. He added, “It definitely gives you a target. if you definitely know something’s going on”. Rogan in one of his podcasts has also claimed that Usman’s knees are messed up and it is just a miracle that he can fight with that knee.

Joe Rogan in his podcast no #136 had the privilege to host the former light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill. During their conversation, they emphasized the need for Kamaru Usman to take his knee problem in a serious manner. Rogan added that Usman fights in constant pain which is not visible to everyone.

Rogan added  “Kamaru has destroyed knees. His knees are f**ked up. It’s like he’s in constant pain. He fights in pain. His knees are so f**ked up that he walks down the stairs backwards. If you look at the difference between the musculatre in his legs and the musculature in his upper body, it’s a drastic difference.”
