Joe Rogan recently sat down with journalist Matt Taibbi, known for being a part of the infamous Twitter files revelation, in episode 1940 of the Joe Rogan Experience. The duo, during their conversation, remarked on Twitter CEO Elon Musk’s sense of humor, which led them to ultimately talk about another world leader i.e. former US president Donald Trump. Taibbi, while discussing Elon Musk, compared him to Trump, in the sense that they were both funny; with Rogan even called the former President ‘good off the cuff.’ The UFC commentator also interestingly stated that the billionaire could have been a great stand-up comedian.

Despite his positive take on Trump, Rogan eventually disclosed his feelings on what the 76-year-old represents as an American, claiming that it genuinely left some people without an option while choosing their leader. Fans of the podcast will be familiar with the host’s views on Trump’s presidency from his earlier episodes as well.

Taibbi, while showing his appreciation for Elon Musk’s sense of humor, incidentally remarked how he felt the same about the former President too. He mentioned how, although he wasn’t a fan of his politics, there was no denying that the former president was indeed funny.

“It’s the same phenomenon with Trump. It’s like you know, I couldn’t stand his politics, but if you denied that he was funny, you were lying. Like the campaign was funny.” Stated the journalist.

Rogan shared his agreement with that view by pointing out a particular remark that Trump had made when in office, while even making a surprising claim that he could have been a stand-up comedian.

“When he called Kim Jong-un little rocket man. I mean come on, that sh***s hilarious. The guys got great timing. I mean, he could have been a stand-up. His timing is excellent,” expressed the 55-year-old, who has had major success as a stand-up comedian himself. He then continues: “…probably would have said some hilarious shit…… he’s good off the cuff. “

Although some might not agree with that view, Rogan‘s experience as a comedian probably means he is more insightful in his take.

Despite appreciating his humor, Rogan shares a different take on Trump

Although the long-time UFC commentator clearly appreciates Trump’s humor; he was also quick in pointing out what he did not agree with. Rogan stated how his statements did not mean that Trump was the best leader the country ever had.

“It’s not saying he’s the best leader we’ve ever had, and not saying he’s a great statesman or a great president or even a good representation of what America is supposed to stand for because, he’s not, and it’s a real problem.” Said the 55-year-old.

He then also pointed out how some good, hard-working citizens were not a fan of Trump owing to some of his antics. “Because there’s a lot of people that are conservative-minded, fiscally conservative hard-working people. They don’t like any of his antics. And they are forced to choose between someone they deeply disrespect versus someone who they also deeply disrespect.”

Ultimately, Rogan sharing his personal views is not an uncommon thing for listeners of his popular podcast. But claiming that the billionaire and former president would have been a stand-up comedian is nothing sort of unique.
