Joe Rogan always advocates what is good for fighters, even when that goes against his employer. Not that he needs the money, especially when he has one of the most successful podcasts in the world. The UFC commentator has spoken repeatedly on issues such as weight cutting and was a vocal critic of the stringent USADA regime.

And as the anti-doping body is set to part ways with the MMA promotion starting January 1 2024, Rogan and his guest Daniel Cormier discussed the UFC’s new anti-doping partner agency, Drug Free Sports International (DFSI).

Joe Rogan thinks UFC fighters should be allowed to use certain illegal substances

During the podcast, Joe Rogan and Cormier got to discussing the various measures introduced by USADA, including letting athletes get rehydrated using intravenous (IV) methods, as part of its anti-doping regime. Cormier shared that he had found it incredibly difficult to cope with this change and Rogan, too disapproved of it thinking the anti-doping body went too far.

At this point, Rogan mentioned the UFC’s new anti-doping partner, Drug Free Sports International. While the podcast host did not mention its association with the UFC starting next year, he did cite that UFC CEO Dana White had spoken highly of them.

The podcast host hoped that injured UFC fighters would be allowed to use peptides such as BPC-157, which speed up the healing and recovery process, as part of their treatment since they are constantly getting minor and major injuries. I just wish they would allow guys to use things like BPC-157… It can help you heal. Guys are constantly injured. They’re constantly dealing with a pulled this and yanked that,” the stand-up comedian added.

Apart from this, Rogan and Cormier seemingly also bonded over ‘Poatan’. And well we are here for it!

The two UFC commentators found one topic that made them sound like lovesick teenagers. This was the UFC’s new light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira. Rogan was impressed by how sneakily and effectively the Brazilian was able to land his kicks.

Cormier compared ‘Poatan’ to the Marvel villain Thanos and felt he was collecting belts like Thanos was collecting Infinity Stones. He was struck by Pereira’s stone-face stare-down against Jiri Prochazka at their light heavyweight title bout at UFC 295 last month. Both agreed he was a fantastic fighter who would be very difficult to beat.
