Joe Rogan is a strong free-speech advocate. Ever since his early days as a stand-up comic, the podcast host has been an outspoken critic of any type of censorship. Over the years, he has found himself in the middle of controversies for allegedly spreading conspiracy theories and disinformation.

Rogan has been a long-time critic of the Canadian government and its policies on this topic. And as he was joined by a Canadian Youtuber on his podcast, he revealed that his podcast might not even be available in Canada in the future.

Rogan was joined by Derek from the ‘More Plates More Dates’ YouTube channel on episode #2073 of the JRE. The pair began the podcast by talking about cold plunges, which led to them talking about Canada. Rogan had a very low opinion of Canada and let out a vitriolic tirade against its Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.

The podcast host said he was “scared” of the direction their northern neighbor was taking and compared the controversial policies it used to deal with the Trucker protests to dictatorships and authoritarian regimes. Rogan was especially concerned about Canada’s Online Streaming Act, which requires social media and online services that offer podcasts to register with the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), an independent body that regulates content in Canada.

“Yeah, I’ve heard concerning things that my podcast at one point of time might not even be available in Canada because of this (Canada’s Online Streaming Act). That’s a concern that this could be used in that manner to stop people from accessing podcasts, especially if I’m openly critical of that sh**hole Communist government,” Rogan told the YouTuber.

Contrary to Rogan’s claims, however, the legislation does not require individual content creators to register. Spotify, YouTube, X, Facebook, etc. would have to register with the CRTC, while channels and creators like Joe Rogan are not required to do so. But the two fitness enthusiasts moved on quickly and got to talking about MMA’s biggest star.

During the podcast, the two got to discussing Conor McGregor‘s horrific leg-snap injury two years ago. There have been widespread speculations (including by Rogan himself) that ‘Notorious’ was on PEDs as part of his recovery process. The YouTuber was all in favor of it and felt the severity of the injury warranted it.

“I certainly support guys taking things to recover from injuries like Conor did with his leg injury. 100% no question about it. I’m 100% all in on that. That’s the only way. No one comes back from that.” he told Rogan, who has been an advocate of injured fighters being allowed to use illegal substances that aid recovery.

Hi, I am Kanishk and I am a UFC Writer at EssentiallySports. I love telling the stories of these magnificent fighters and this wildly unpredictable sport that is so frustrating and yet so joyous at the same time. I never really used to watch MMA, thinking it too crude or brutal a sport to deserve respect.
