Accusations have been made in the past about Joe Rogan‘s assumed stance on gay rights, but these notions were dispelled when Rogan openly supported gay rights back in 2022. The multi-million dollar podcaster has always been very vocal about his support of gay rights. Two years ago, when Rogan was accused of being a hypocrite on the issue, he responded by openly supporting gay rights. Two years after the incident, the podcaster has come forward to narrate a story to condemn homophobia.

Joe Rogan dives deep into the homophobia territory

Amid the 2 and half hour long conversation, the duo initially started having a talk about Rogan’s childhood memories. One of the many stories that the multi-million dollar podcaster shared was the story about how he spent time with his aunt back in San Francisco. He emphasized that his aunt used to have drinks and parties with people who were gay and it was completely normal. Rogan also explained that he never understood the term homophobic until he moved to Florida.

The podcaster added that things were a bit better back in those days when people were a bit tolerant. He stated that freedom and acceptance should go hand-in-hand in the United States – “They were just normal guys who just happened to be gay, and they were everywhere too. It’s like it became normal because you just saw them everywhere. There were guys holding hands everywhere.”

He further added, “This was San Francisco in the 1970s. I want liberty and freedom for all. Yeah, that’s real freedom. You want America to be this fuc**ng  land of the free, home of the brave. You know how fuc**ng brave you have to be to be holding hands with a dude and walk down a major street? How? What are the possibilities of running into homophobes? It’s pretty f***king  high for sure.”

Down in the conversation, Rogan continued that it was pretty brave for bisexual people to accept themselves in this generation as there seems to be a bit less tolerance now. The normalization of having gay friends back in his young days made Rogan understand that there’s no difference. Well, this is not the first time that the podcaster has voiced his concerns for gay people.

Back when Rogan advocated for marriage equality

While having a conversation with popular comedian Andrew Schulz on JRE, Rogan expressed his concern about the rising animosity between the masses about the things or the debates that are highly important. The podcaster also took the topic of abortion – “It’s not just abortion rights but now they’re going after gay marriage too, which is so strange to me.”

He further added, “Gay marriage is not silly. It’s marriage — it’s marriage from people that are homosexual and it’s for them. It’s important. They want it. They want to affirm their love and their relationship. And the fact that they’re going after that now almost makes me feel like they want us to fight. They wanna divide us in the best way they can. And this is the best way for them to keep pulling off all the bulls**t they’re doing behind the scenes is to get us to fight over things like gay marriage or get us to fight over things like abortion or it’s just like, why are you removing freedoms?”
