In the latest episode of the podcast, Rogan invited over former UFC champion BJ Penn. They had an entertaining three-hour-long discussion over various topics, including mental warfare before fights.
Penn was explaining how it is important to be mentally strong and prepared for a fight. This reminded Rogan of the infamous McGregor-Aldo fight where everyone was surprised how it ended.
Rogan said, “That was one of the things that seemed to weigh heavy on Aldo when he was meeting up with Conor. Like particularly for the first fight, for the first fight that Conor fought for the title when he knocked him out quick.”
“It seemed like Aldo was emotionally invested in that fight because Conor talked so much s**t for so long. They promoted that thing for months and months right. And Conor was just disrespectful.”
Penn chimed in, “Grabbed his belt,” reminding him of the incident from a press meet before the fight.
He added how Aldo was one of the dangerous guys during his prime, but ‘The Notorious’ got into his mind. “Nobody was ever like that with Aldo, everybody always was respectful of him. He was dangerous. I mean Aldo in his prime, again in his prime, he was a bad motherf**ker. That Chad Mendes knockout, Brazil… you think of some of Aldo’s favorite fights. Aldo in his prime was a f**king wizard.”
Conor McGregor infamously KO’d Jose Aldo in 13 seconds of the first round to become the featherweight champion in 2016.
Ryan Clark defies Joe Rogan on Conor McGregor
Former Super Bowl champion and famous podcast host Ryan Clark has gone against Joe Rogan’s suggestion for ‘The Notorious’. Clark appears on the RC & DC show with former UFC champ Daniel Cormier.
He shared his thoughts on McGregor wanting to fight Usman for the welterweight title next. Clark agreed with the plan. He said it would be better for everyone if that fight goes through. Recently, Joe Rogan advised the Irishman to take an easier fight for his comeback to get back to winning ways.

However, Clark believes it might backfire if ‘The Notorious’ loses that fight. It will affect both his legacy and the UFC’s biggest cash cow. Instead, a fight against Usman will be a win-win, because McGregor will be an underdog even if he loses the fight.
