Many consider heavyweight fighters in mixed martial arts as some of the dangerous men in the world. They weigh close to 260 pounds and can strike and also fight on the ground. However, the UFC doesn’t have a super heavyweight division, and Joe Rogan brought that up recently.
One of the most popular heavyweight fighters in the world right now is Francis Ngannou. He is the UFC heavyweight champion and is coming off a comfortable win over Ciryl Gane at UFC 270. He weighed in for his fight at 257 pounds but during the fight night, looked much bigger. In boxing, there is no weight limit on heavyweights, and in MMA, there is a super heavyweight division. However, the UFC doesn’t have it. Joe Rogan, in the latest JRE episode, and talked about how it can create a dilemma for the promotion.
He said, “There is, but the UFC has never implemented it. It’s super heavyweight. I mean, I guess there’s probably a few, but there’s not enough where they felt the need to have an over 265-pound weight class. It is kind of weird though that there’s a weight limit on heavyweight. Because with heavyweight it would like be the biggest person you had.”

If you did have a guy that big that was marketable, I could see the UFC implementing a super-heavyweight division. It is available. It’s something that the commissions have sanctioned,” he added.
