Anwar seemed quite vexed by the public opinion that allegedly backed Smith. He found the public opinion on the matter quite weird and even suggested that incident as America’s ‘Rorschach test’.

Joe Rogan dubbed GI Jane as a Hero

The duo found the joke to be empowering instead of being seen as an attempt to demean the star. Anwar seemed quite appalled by Smith’s action as he exclaimed, “How could anyone think that was justified?” and Joe Rogan retorted by boldly suggesting that Chris Rock’s joke was actually a compliment.

Here’s how Rogan perceived the joke. He explained,” It wasn’t even a mean joke, it was very…. I have said this before, but I will say it again. Just because of the interest of being clear here, that movie was a strong movie. GI Jane was a movie about a beautiful woman Demi Moore, who became a f***g navy seal.”

“She was a bada*s lady. There’s nothing negative about it. Like saying GI Jane 2, there’s nothing negative about it. It’s like you are literally comparing yourself to a hero or someone is comparing you rather to a hero. It is not an insult.”

Rogan’s initial reaction to the incident carried the same tone as it does now. The UFC Icon did not like the way things unfolded, and he even dubbed Will Smith emotionally fragile”. He backed Chris Rock and stated that the joke was quite mild in nature and it did not warrant such an aggressive rebuttal.

He said,” First of all, that is a that whole scene doing that in that manner in that place, is a great example of what’s wrong with the glorification of just being able to go up to someone and smack them in the face.”
