“My enemies are many my equals are none,” said Napoleon Bonaparte. This statement by the charismatic French ruler still has massive significance and Joe Rogan might be the one who can truly offer justice to it, at least in the context of the podcasting realm. There was a palpable worry among the ‘JRE’ fans when Theo Von invited the former President, Donald Trump to his podcast. In comparison to Trump, the guests Rogan was inviting had little significance, however, the recent Spotify ranking presents a different story as the color commentator has again ousted his rivals to be at the top of the rankings.

Joe Rogan not only ousted Theo Von to climb the ladder to the top but also proved everyone who doubted him wrong with the recent revelation. Now a question arises: Despite strong competition from others, how is Rogan still able to get ahead and improve? Well, the question has been answered by the podcaster himself in his latest take on “JRE #2193”

Joe Rogan opens up about the secret behind his $250 million empire

When Theo Von invited Donald Trump to his podcast, the community thought that Rogan was losing his charm but the recent Spotify rankings tell a different tale. Well, such dominance despite competition is rather unique but why is ‘JRE’ so relevant? According to Joe Rogan, it’s because he invites such people from whom he wants to learn things.

While having a conversation with Jack Symes on “JRE #2193”, Rogan confessed, “Well first of all, we have lots of podcasts and lots of hosts. It’s just that this one is the most popular for some strange reason, but that’s not my fault. I mean, I can’t alter it because it’s too popular; that’s ridiculous. One of the reasons why it’s popular is that I talk to a bunch of different people about a bunch of different things.”

He further added, “Some people, I am just eternally curious and have no understanding of it at all, and I want it laid out to me. Then, there are other things I have very strong opinions about, and I want to know why a person thinks differently or how they came to their conclusions. Or maybe there’s a person that I really admire, and I want to understand their mindset. Maybe it’s someone who’s got some very fascinating, esoteric information, and I want to learn it. The podcast is entirely based on what I’m interested in.”

͏͏Joe Rogan was way ahead of his time when he released his Podcast way back in 2009. Regardless, Rogan was sure that his new venture would turn out to be a massive hit and that’s what happened as 15 years after its inception, the podcast is now valued at $250 million.

Well, the valuation game played by the podcaster pretty well as a decision in 2020 made him untouchable on the charts. What’s that? Let’s find out.

The time when Rogan decided to shake hands with Spotify

B͏͏͏͏ack in 2020, music streaming giant, Spotify offered a deal to the multi-million dollar podcaster and that is to be exclusive to their platform and not showcase his podcast anywhere else. The music streaming behemoth offered a hefty $200 million for it. The decision was a big one for the podcaster as this would mean he would have to pull his primetime podcast out of other platforms. Well, Joe Rogan agreed to their terms and for a good 4 years stayed exclusive to their platform.

However, the game was about to change for the million-dollar man as the contract lapse was coming to an end at the start of 2024. Having an agreement with Joe Rogan proved to be monumental for Spotify as they became the best podcasting medium but most of it was because of the emergence of Rogan and when the contract re-signing date came close Spotify had no choice but to re-sign Rogan on his own terms.

͏͏What are the terms? It’s that Rogan will have exclusive rights to his podcasts and now he will be able to upload his podcast on any channel including YouTube. The new deal was signed at a massive $250 million. The podcaster played the game very strategically and now Joe Rogan has three times the number of followers than the next biggest show on Spotify.
