Gaethje, in an interview with Kevin Iole, addressed Rogan’s praise for Saint-Denis,  emphasizing the unpredictability of the sport. During the ‘Fight Companion’ episode of the JRE (Joe Rogan Experience) for UFC 297, the UFC color commentator had proclaimed, “that Saint-Denis guy is a f*king killer, he’s such a killer, that guy is a scary guy, I’m telling you, Benoit-Saint Denis is next level,” indicating his concern for Dustin Poirier.

Therefore, Gaethje responded by revealing his thoughts on the comments. He stated, “But I think his skill is up there, I think it’s a very similar situation for when I fought Fiziev. A young up-and-comer, obviously full of confidence, full of hunger, um not sleeping in silk sheets yet, Poirier is, I was. And these are guys that are dangerous, they are young, they are hungry and they’re confident.”

He also drew parallels to his own experience, citing his fight against Fiziev as a comparable situation. Gaethje even noted the danger posed by young, hungry fighters with impressive skills who are looking to make a name for themselves by taking on established names in the division. He stated, “They’ve got crazy skills, fighting is a dangerous game and chance is a factor, so I absolutely think, Poirier, I think it’ll be similar to my fight against Fiziev.”

Gaethje also emphasized the uncertainty in the fight game, expressing belief in Saint-Denis’s capabilities if luck is on his side. Gaethje’s perspective reflects the dynamic nature of the lightweight division, acknowledging the impact of factors beyond skill and the dangers a young and hungry contender brings to the cage.

However, ahead of his UFC 300 clash against Max Holloway, his opponent has revealed an interesting reason that has raised the stakes for their fight!

Max Holloway shares the story behind ‘beef’ with Gaethje

UFC 300 promises an epic BMF title fight between Max Holloway and Justin Gaethje, a matchup fueled more by quirky history than animosity! The backstory traces back to UFC 218 in 2017, where Gaethje, volunteering to hold the towel during Holloway’s weigh-in, inadvertently caused a stir.

The incident involved Gaethje nearly causing Holloway to expose himself to the public by raising the weigh-in towel unexpectedly before Holloway had a chance to put his clothes on! In an interview with ESPN MMA, Holloway shared the amusing anecdote, emphasizing Gaethje’s role in ‘towelgate.’

He stated, “I was like, ‘Bro, you did the right thing.’ But I’m not going to forget that, Gaethje. I guess that’s the whole beef.”
