During the conversation with Joe Rogan, Elon Musk revealed the challenges his company, Tesla, had to endure to survive during a period of upheaval for the automotive industry.

Musk revealed, “Even at this point, the only car companies that have not gone bankrupt are Ford and Tesla. General Motors went bankrupt and Chrysler went bankrupt in 2009, there’s some chance they’ll go bankrupt again. Ford and Tesla barely made it, it was incredibly difficult to keep Tesla alive, when General Motors and Chrysler were going bankrupt.”

As such, he went on to explain that the hardest part of running an automobile company is manufacturing vehicles. He stated, “Because manufacturing is the actual hard thing, by far the hard thing. I just can’t emphasize that enough and I hope somebody makes a movie about that.”
