Joe Rogan seems to be concerned about Khamzat Chimaev as the latter prepares for the fight against Robert Whittaker in Saudi Arabia. Claiming ‘The Reaper’ to be a true middleweight, the 56-year-old warned ‘Borz’ of the dangers of the fight. Apparently, Michael Bisping seems to agree with Rogan during his recent analysis of the Saudi main event.

Khamzat Chimaev’s return to middleweight was not what fans expected. He was supposed to fight Paulo Costa, but the Brazilian suffered an injury prompting Kamaru Usman to accept the fight on short notice and make his middleweight debut. But this time, the story is different for Robert Whittaker. Let’s see what Michael Bisping had to say about that fight.

In his recent YouTube video, Michael Bisping mentioned that, just like Joe Rogan, he was also excited to see Khamzat Chimaev vs Robert Whittaker. With one being undefeated and the other being a former champion, the fight is guaranteed to produce some noteworthy moments. Bisping said, “It’s a great fight, right? Joe Rogan’s a fan of this fight and he warns Khamzat Chimaev, by the way, about Robert Whittaker. ‘Robert Whittaker’s the real deal, Robert Whittaker is a real middleweight.'”

The British UFC legend sided with Joe Rogan when he mentioned Robert Whittaker being a legitimate threat. He pointed out the amazing fights the Australian had with Yoel Romero, and his last fight against Paulo Costa, which he won. “Robert is the former middleweight champion of the world that’s beaten some tremendous people, the wars with Yoel Romero. He has proved himself time after time after time. Just a few weeks ago… took out Paulo Costa in a stunning fight and showed he still got a chin,” ‘The Count’ added. Michael Bisping further gave his analytical take on Whittaker’s last fight. Let’s have a look at that front.

Prior to his win over Paulo Costa, ‘The Reaper’ suffered a knockout loss against now-champion Dricus du Plessis. Many people felt as if that fight marked the end of Robert Whittaker, but not Michael Bisping. The Hall of Famer did not undermine what ‘Stillknocks’ is capable of but believes that it was just a bad day at the office for the former middleweight champion. Bisping further stated, “Dricus got him on a good night. Simple as that. Taking nothing away from Dricus… Robert got caught. As simple as that.”

The reason Michael Bisping claims that the fight against Dricus du Plessis did not prove Robert Whittaker has lost his touch was because of his performance against Paulo Costa. Despite taking some heavy hits from the Brazilian, the former middleweight champion convincingly out-fought ‘Borrachinha’, won the fight and seemed happy about it. “He took some heavy kicks, spinning wheel kicks from Paulo Costa and still continued to fight and won a decision fair and square,” Bisping added.

Moreover, they will be fighting for a title shot in the Middle East and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top in the UFC’s first Saudi Arabian event.
