That win catapulted him into never-before-seen stardom. However, after the win, he left the division and hasn’t returned since.

Recently, there were talks about him possibly making a return to take on the current featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski. He had made comments about ‘The Great’ and there was a back-and-forth between the two men. However, according to his coach John Kavanagh, McGregor won’t be returning to featherweight.

In an interview, he was asked if there was a chance of him going to 145. He said, “Nah! I don’t see that.”

After beating Aldo, he clinched the UFC lightweight title with the dismantling of Eddie Alvarez. McGregor is the biggest superstar in the sport and easily the biggest draw. Fighters want a piece of him, and one of those fighters is Alexander Volkanovski.

Alexander Volkanovski has shown interest in fighting Conor McGregor

Alexander Volkanovski, currently on a 20-fight win streak, is one of the best fighters in the world right now. He is the UFC featherweight champion and is on an amazing run. ‘The Great’ is unbeaten in his 10 UFC fights and is in with a shout of being called the greatest featherweight of all time.

However, there is one guy that he hasn’t fought, and that is Conor McGregor. But after his fight with Brian Ortega, Volkanovski said he would fight ‘The Notorious’.

‘The Great’ said, “Come back down to featherweight, I would love it. He reckons he is the man of the featherweight division, and again, I’ve got the strategy. I’m obviously tough and yeah, I’m a whole different beast to what he’s used to in this division. So, if he wants to come back down, welcome. I would love it.”

Not many believe McGregor will drop down to 145, but ‘The Great’ is ready to go up a division to make it happen. He said, “It’s not an option, I don’t know if he would do it. Let’s go with 155. Let’s do it, 155, we make it happen.”
