An Instagram post from UFC fanatic Hayden Iverson had a lengthy backstory. The post had a video that tried to elaborate on who could be Jones’ next opponent if he beats Miocic in his forthcoming bout. The bottom line was to explain why Aspinall could be the next front-runner against Jones. A caption, accompanied his post, which quoted, “why would Jon acknowledge this if Tom wasn’t worth his time.”

Well, the entire video was enough to grab the attention of Jon Jones’ brother Arthur Jones, who replied with an entrancing comment. He quoted, “Nah… my little bro is retiring after this fight in Nov. Unless uncle Dana makes it worth his wild!”

Arthur Jones seems to believe that the sole factor that could prevent Jon Jones from retiring was Dana White. He amusingly took a dig at the UFC president through his comments. While the entire MMA community is in a gray area considering Jones’ retirement for the time being, a UFC legend has put it in black and white in the past, as he considered it all a hype game.

Chael Sonnen’s assertions from the past regarding Jon Jones’ retirement

UFC legend Chael Sonnen’s YouTube video from the past discussed his opinions on Jon Jones’ retirement-related hints. Sonnen believes these hints are merely suggestive and not a reflection of reality. While Jones may have hinted at retirement, Sonnen gave a side eye, clearly not anticipating his retirement.

He said, “I have been surprised with the lack of pushback when Jon [Jones] made the statement that it would be his last fight.”

He further said, “When I was a small child, I would say things that I knew weren’t so, where people didn’t want to be so… just to get the praise. If I did something in art class and I did a great job and I looked around, I could see all my classmates. I knew mine was the best. I’d hold it up and go, ‘This is pretty bad,’ so that they would know that really good. It’s a thing that you do. You’re just that little kid that starved for attention.”
