The world heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, has become the ultimate benchmark for numerous UFC stars who aspire to showcase their skills by defeating him. Given his reputation as one of the most dominant heavyweights of all time, Jones has undoubtedly caused worry among other competitors. His upcoming bout against Stipe Miocic has created huge anticipation among fans. However,  UFC head honcho, Dana White,  seems to have another fight on his mind.

The scenario became intriguing recently when the UFC president teased another opponent for Jon Jones. In a recent interview, White dropped the name of #5 UFC heavyweight Tom Aspinall. Now, it seems that White’s remarks have fueled Aspinall’s adrenaline since he has come out with a few blunt statements for Jon Jones.

Tom Aspinall wants to have a go at Jon Jones

Tom Aspinall has, time and again, made his ambitions of  fighting ‘Bones’ very clear. Now, a post on Instagram has highlighted this desire again. The Instagram handle of the social media MMA news site Fight Tale carried this post, and the caption of the post made it evident what was going on.  The caption had this to say, “Tom Aspinall believes he is the one to beat Jon Jones“. The post had the caption, “I honestly hand on heart think that I can beat Jon Jones “. The second slide of the  post quoted, “If he is still around when I get up there, I will be the first to beat him”.

Instantly positioning oneself as a prime contender to defeat ‘Bones’ can never be easy for a UFC fighter. But Tom Aspinall made it easy without any shilly-shallying whatsoever. His boldness might have prompted him to take a verbal shot at Jones, but little did he know that his remarks would act as a magnet to attract the attention of the fans.

Fans had a lot to say about Aspinall’s comments on Jon Jones

The fans came out in force to express their thoughts about Aspinalls’ remarks on Jones. They had different perspectives surrounding the current situation.

One fan said this regarding Jones, “Everyone thinks they can beat Jones until they get in there with him”.

While the other had this to say, “Jon Jones can’t bully aspinall on ground like he did with gane for sure”

“I’m sorry but Jon Jones is getting smoked! TKO R2” the fan backed Aspinall through his statement.

“Everyone did and nobody did” the fan seemed sarcastic.

“Its a great matchup”  the fan want’s Aspinall to face Jones, considering it to be a great contest.

Another other fan responded to the above with his wit, saying, “He doesn’t think that but he wants the paycheck associated with trying. ”

“These Jones meat riders, really think Jones would easily beat Tom Aspinall who’s an elite grappler” this fan quoted.

While the reactions appeared to be varied, Jon Jones’ response is one key element that is lacking from the picture. On the other hand, Aspinall would surely be focussing on his next fight against Marcin Tybura.
