It seems like Jon Jones may not be returning to action anytime soon. It’s already been a few months, and fans are calling for a fight against Tom Aspinall. However, the undisputed heavyweight champion appears to be coming back to a reality show, similar to the UFC’s ‘The Ultimate Fighter’, but in the Russian version of the show called ‘ALF Global Reality’.

The Russian version of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ is a relatively new reality show. The show debuted earlier this year in February, and the coach-cum-captains were former UFC champions Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan, but initially, ‘No Mercy’ was set to coach against Merab Dvalishvili, but the bantamweight champion withdrew from the offer, which is likely because of his first title defense at UFC 311 against Umar Nurmagomedov. Now, the show’s got the consensus GOAT of MMA, Jon Jones.

The undisputed heavyweight champion announced the news on social media, claiming that he’ll be featuring either as a captain or a coach on the second season of ‘ALF Global Reality’. And guess what? The opposition coach is none other than the iconic Nate Diaz. ‘Bones’ shared a post on Instagram with the caption, “I told y’all, there’s levels to this game.”

The first season of the show made use of the heated rivalry between Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan, which made for an entertaining watch for the viewers. Could we see that again with Jon Jones and Nate Diaz? Well, that remains to be seen as we’re guaranteed to get an entertaining season of unscripted moments. One of those unscripted moments saw Aljamain Sterling getting choked out by one of his own teammates, but he would later give a receipt back. And guess what? That was one of the highlights of the first season.

While we wait to see if that happens again in season 2, there appears to be some bad news for Tom Aspinall. A UFC Hall of Fame legend believes his potential fight against Jon Jones is in a problematic phase. Here’s what he had to say.

Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall is ‘losing steam’

Ever since UFC 295, after Tom Aspinall won the interim gold, fans have been calling for a match between the Manchester native and Jon Jones. The fans wanted to see ‘Bones’ unify the title instead of fighting Stipe Miocic, which he did. But now, with more than a year and a half of fans wanting to see that heavyweight clash, which Dana White believes has the potential to be the biggest fight in promotional history, UFC legend Chael Sonnen claims that the interest is slowly diminishing.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Jon Jones' reality show stint a smart move or a sign he's avoiding the octagon?

Have an interesting take?

“his fight is losing steam. Now, generally when you get a big fight that people want to see and at the night of Madison Square Garden, I think it was the biggest fight [in] our industry anyway you want to do it,” Chael Sonnen stated on the ‘Good Guy/Bad Guy’ show. “I think the biggest fight our industry could produce was Tom [Aspinall] vs. Jon [Jones]. I will just tell you by the numbers, it is losing steam.”

Well, Dana White wants to make that fight possible, so we’ll have to wait to see what happens. Moreover, Jon Jones has asked for six months to train, so there is hope that his fight will happen. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how the Russian version of TUF pans out. Will it be better than ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ with two top UFC legends on the show?
