There is some good news for the UFC fans around the world. While the announcement of Conor McGregor‘s return date was a piece of welcome news, another update has come in regarding the injured Jon Jones. The heavyweight champion seems to have gotten better from his shoulder injury and recently shared a post on Instagram, informing that he has indeed returned to training.

One of the most anticipated matches last year was the heavyweight clash between former two-time champion Stipe Miocic and Jon Jones. But the latter had to pull out days before the fight at UFC 295 because of a pectoral muscle tear that affected his shoulder. But now Jones is back in training and seems relieved about it.

During his time off, Jon Jones was seen spending some free time and attending various events. He even bumped into former UFC champion Francis Ngannou for the second time during the PFL vs Bellator event in February. But that wasn’t all. Jones even paid a visit to Down Under in Australia and had fun spending time with the rugby players from the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs team. But now that Jones is feeling better, he’s back in action in the gym.

“First day back in the gym since my injury, felt amazing. And so it began,” Jon Jones captioned his post. Interestingly, a fan commented on his post, asking why he is still down to fight Stipe Miocic rather than Tom Aspinall, who has the interim belt. Jones replied by pointing out the former 2-time champion’s heavyweight GOAT status. “I love how high I’ve set the expectations. Even fresh off surgery you guys still don’t give the greatest heavyweight ever a shot,” ‘Bones’ added.

The UFC CEO appeared in an interview with ‘TNT Sports’, just a few weeks before the monumental UFC 300 PPV, where he cleared his stance on the heavyweight clash between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic. He assured that nothing could make him change his mind and scrap the fight, but the exact date of the fight was yet to be determined. Also, there is good news for Tom Aspinall. He may get to fight the winner of Jones vs Miocic.

“Jones is set to fight Stipe. I hope the winner of that fight will fight Tom,” said Dana White. “Because of the injury, who knows when they’ll fight,” he added. It remains to be seen if the plans that the UFC CEO has for Tom Aspinall, Jon Jones, and Stipe Miocic come to fruition in the months to come.

Even though Jones has returned to training, we may not get to see him in action soon. It is because Dana White has already announced some blockbuster main event fights that are scheduled to take place soon, including Conor McGregor’s return against Michael Chandler on June 29. We will have to wait for further developments on this front.
