The heavyweight division is in a bit of a puzzle at the moment. Tom Aspinall is holding the interim championship, Stipe Miocic is on a title run, and there’s no clear indication of Jon Jones making a return anytime soon. Adding to the mix, the light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira, is eyeing the heavyweight division with a hunger. Now everything depends on Jones but where is he?

Jon Jones’s massive update on his comeback

The heavyweight champ is undergoing rehabilitation to fight again after his pec injury. There has been silence about Jone’s injury, however, the fighter has come forward to provide an update about his injury. “Bones” took to his Instagram handle to add a story where he said that he is undergoing surgery in California.

“I’m back out here in California with Dr. Neil S. ElAttrache. So, this time, instead of a pec repair, we are working on my left elbow. I’m actually about 1 hour off the table; we had a 2-hour surgery” Jones explained that he is undergoing a bone spur operation as well which will carry on for the next 10 weeks. “Good news is that it’s about a 10-week healing process, and I’m out for months because of this pec surgery. So, I thought I would kill two birds and get this elbow taken care of once and for all” said Jones on his Instagram story.

Down in the conversation, Jones thanked the fans for waiting for him to come back. “I appreciate all the support you’ve shown. By the way, back in the sling but still on this recovery training. I appreciate your love, and your support, and I will be back.”

Dana White, the Chief Executive Officer of the UFC, has unequivocally conveyed that the impending confrontation involving Jones and Miocic will be rescheduled once Jones attains the requisite fitness for battle. This firm standpoint implies that Tom Aspinall’s recent endeavors to advocate for a showdown with either of these pugilists are likely to evade substantial recognition.

Aspinall currently holds the top spot in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings as the No. 1 heavyweight. However, it seems like he won’t be given the opportunity to secure that position on the UFC’s list shortly. The comeback of Jones seems to be uncertain now and seems like Miocic will be the first one to get the title shot. What’s your opinion on the fate of the heavyweight division?
