Most fans, and even Dana White, would say that the rivalry between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier was perhaps the most intense rivalry in UFC history. Others would refute that, since there are a few more heated rivalries in the promotion’s history as well. However, no rivalry was more intense and even personal than it was between Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington, and ‘Gamebred’ recently made a confession about his feud that we did not know earlier.

Colby Covington not only has a history with Jorge Masvidal but also with some of the other veterans in the UFC. Most notably, he once shared a dorm with former two-weight champion Jon Jones, and even that relationship turned sour during their time together at Iowa Community College. It won’t be wrong to assume that ‘Bones’ knows Covington inside out, and he, along with another former UFC champion, cautioned Masvidal about what he can expect from ‘Chaos’.

Jorge Masvidal reveals Jon Jones’s warning about Colby Covington
Jorge Masvidal used to share an apartment with Colby Covington, and after spending years together, they grew closer. Meanwhile, others were noticing the bond he developed with the former interim welterweight champion. But before things got sour, Jon Jones and Tyron Woodley, as per Masvidal, stepped up to tell him about the potential backstabbing tactics Covington is capable of. “Jon Jones warned me. Jon Jones and T-Woodley. They warned me. That’s the f—ed up part,” ‘Gamebred’ told Jake Shields on the latter’s YouTube podcast.
Jorge Masvidal did not take the advice in the beginning, but later came to regret it. At first, he used to believe that maybe Colby Covington’s issues with the aforementioned former UFC champions could have led them to make up things about his former friend-turned-archrival. But the final nail in the coffin that led Masvidal to understand the advice Jones and Woodley gave him was when Covington denied payment to his coach after he won the interim title at UFC 225.

“[I] a hundred percent wish I would have [listened to them]. And T-Wood warned me a lot. And I was very close with Woodley and Colby at the time,”
Jorge Masvidal added. “I was like, maybe they’ve fallen out. But then, after he did it to my coach, that’s when I knew this guy’s a piece of s–t… He didn’t pay my coach, and that’s when I already knew.”

‘Gamebred’ wants ‘Chaos’ at UFC White House
After Donald Trump announced that the White House would be hosting a UFC event with title fights as a part of the America250 celebration next year on July 4, many fighters expressed their wish to fight on that card. Jon Jones and Conor McGregor also made their wish known, and not too long ago, it was Jorge Masvidal who called for a rematch against Colby Covington at the Oval Office.

“I want to fight on that White House card on July 4; it will be the most American thing possible,” Jorge Masvidal said in an interview last month. “I wouldn’t mind fighting Colby; I would love to take his head off in front of the White House lawn. I don’t think UFC will care to book Colby for anything, but who knows? I would love that fight.”
Well, Dana White has previously shut down entertaining any thoughts on a Jorge Masvidal return, but who knows? Maybe the CEO will change his mind in the coming months. Regardless, it was interesting to know that none other than Colby Covington’s ex-dorm mate had warned Masvidal about him. What do you make of this revelation? Drop your comments below.
