Themba Gorimbo keeps making headlines for the best of reasons. Recently, the welterweight UFC fighter went viral after his meeting with Dwayne Johnson. What was special about it? Only that Johnson gifted him a house because he was so moved by Gorimbo’s story. The fighter has been making waves since he won his May fight against Takashi Sato.

Now, the fighter has yet again broken his boundaries to further his skill set. When you’re in the UFC, you need to keep polishing your grip on martial arts. Themba Gorimbo makes headway with his BJJ belt

Gorimbo shared a picture of himself along with his coach Daniel Valverde. The rising star has managed to secure a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Now, he has joined the list of many previous superstars who have the purple belt in the martial art. The list includes some of the greatest fighters in the UFC at present such as Jon Jones, Israel Adesanya, Max Holloway, and Khamzat Chimaev.

“Finally a purple belt after 10 years of being blue. Been a ride  and thank you coach @danielvalverde11 for believing in my work. I will work hard to get to black belt one day. ONE MORE ROUND GUYS. ( the never ending one more round from coach @danielvalverde11 )” Tweeted Gorimbo.

This is not the first time Gorimbo has stunned his fans in the last few weeks. Recently, he also got support and a lot of help from Marlon Vera. The unexpected collaboration happened because of Gorimbo’s manager and his own unrelenting efforts to bring about a change in his village in Zimbabwe.

What drew Dwayne Johnson and Vera to help Gorimbo?

When ‘The Answer’ was about to go up against Sato, he just had about $7 in his bank. It was after the fight that his life took a brilliant but unexpected turn. He sold his fight kit so he could install bush pumps in his village back home. His community suffered from a lack of water and his selfless act attracted many eyes. This included ‘The Rock’ who gifted the fighter his own house to support him.

Recently, ‘Chito’ Vera also showed up and donated a borehole to Gorimbo’s community in Zimbabwe.
