‘Bones’ himself has been looking to make a spectacular comeback. He last fought at UFC 247 in 2020 and successfully retained his light heavyweight belt. However, he gave it up to move to the heavyweight division. Since then, his fans have been waiting for his return.
Jones recently tweeted “UFC 282” and hence, teased a return at the event.
‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ had a reign similar to Jones. Although the latter held on to this title for a much longer time. Interestingly, Usman had recently spoken about a super-fight against Jones.
How Jon Jones Recorded the Only Loss in His MMA Career
After witnessing a vicious KO, it would be interesting to see if Usman and Edwards clash for the third time and whether the former welterweight champion can get back the belt.
Kamaru Usman makes a promise
After Leon Edwards unleashed a powerful head kick, Usman went down on the canvas. It was a surprising finish, as the former was ahead on the judges’ scorecards.
However, the ex-champion is not moping around about the loss. He took to Twitter and made a promise to bounce back with ‘vengeance‘.

The loss was shocking as Amanda Nunes‘ loss to Julianna Peña at UFC 269 last year. However, ‘The Lioness’ came back stronger only to win the title once again. Not just that, she also showcased a dominant performance against Peña at UFC 277. She thus retained her double champ status.
Hence, it would interesting to see if Usman versus Edwards follows a similar path. In fact, Usman has stated that he wants to face Edwards for the third time.
