UFC 273 has propelled Khamzat Chimaev into MMA stardom. His unanimous decision victory over the number two ranked welterweight fighter, Gilbert Burns, is the talk of the town. Even the light-heavyweight legend, Jon Jones, reacted on Twitter by complimenting Chimaev.

Jones reacted to one of Chimaev’s earlier tweets, referring to Jones as the number one fighter.

A UFC fan on Twitter tweeted “How quickly people forgot. Like Chimaev said, no one else can be #1 if bones is still fighting”.

Jones replied to the fan’s tweet saying, “Very kind of him to say that, excited to prove his words true”

It is clear that ‘Bones’ [26-1-0 (1 NC)] is eagerly anticipating his return to assert his supremacy. He has fought elite fighters of all generations in UFC and has yet to be defeated decisively.

It’s amazing to know that despite being undefeated, Chimaev sincerely respects the efforts of other fighters. In the past, he has mentioned that Conor McGregor motivated him to enter the UFC.

UFC president Dana White even predicted a meteoric rise for Chimaev in the UFC.

‘Borz ‘vs ‘Durinho’ was a bloodshed brawl lasting for three tough rounds. The last round saw a heavy exchange of killer blows between the two.

However, the fight resulted in a unanimous victory for Chimaev while Gilbert Burns received a win bonus for his performance.

In the UFC 273 post-fight press conference, Dana White compared the rise of Chimaev to Conor McGregor & Ronda Rousey.

Chimaev would look to emulate Jones’ success in the UFC. While Jones waits for his UFC fight card, and enjoys Borz’s performance.
