Jon ‘Bones’ Jones is considered by the majority of MMA fans as the greatest mixed martial artist to ever grace the sport. Jones is also the youngest champion in UFC history and has never lost inside the octagon apart from the one disqualification loss. Recently, the heavyweight champion himself had some praise for a young buck in the middleweight division.

He currently has 5 wins and no losses, with all 5 wins coming in the first round. Nickal recently claimed in an interview that he could beat Jon Jones in a wrestling match. Jon Jones on Bo Nickal claiming he could beat Jones in a wrestling match

At the start of his career, Jones was primarily wrestling-focused, just like Bo Nickal, when it came to his fighting style. However, after joining the UFC, Jones adopted a more well-rounded and technical approach to his fights. He has been able to perfect his style of fighting so much so that no one has been able to figure out how to beat him inside the octagon.

When Bo Nickal claimed that he would beat Jones in a wrestling match, Jones responded with, “Bo Nickal. Okay, fu***** love him dude. He’s using what he knows and just fu***** dominating. And then he knocked out that last dude with his hands.”

‘Bones’ concluded with, “He probably could dude. Honestly, I’m not the best at anything. I’m just really good at mixing it all together. He probably could beat me at a wrestling match.”

Jon Jones gave credit to Nickal’s wrestling, even going as far as claiming that he might lose the middleweight. The 36-year-old was humble in his response while even praising the young middleweight’s wrestling talents. Similarly, Bo Nickal has a lot of respect for Jon Jones as well.

Bo Nickal’s take on ‘Bones’

Bo Nickal has talked multiple times about Jon Jones. We can see from his comments that Nickal has a lot of respect for Jones, as he claimed to have watched Jon Jones dismantle people inside the octagon. Nickal was confident that Jones would secure the title against Ciryl Gane back at UFC 285 and was proud to be fighting on the same card as the man whom he admired watching when he was younger.

The two also met up and had a friendly scuffle where Jones seemed to have been testing Bo Nickal’s wrestling out. Nickal claimed that he stuffed the takedown and claimed that since it was wrestling, he had a big advantage. Bo Nickal stated that he would like to emulate Jones’ style of fighting in the future.
